Aging in America: A Conversation with Dudley Clendinen

SCOPE, Selby Public Library, Senior Friendship Centers and Sarasota News & Books are pleased to announce the visit of critically-acclaimed author Dudley Clendinen to Sarasota. Clendinen will be here to talk about his newest book “A Place Called Canterbury: Tales of the New Old Age in America.” This book is a candid look at what it is means to grow old in America in the 21st Century. Clendinen wrote “A Place Called Canterbury,” by living at a seniors-only apartment building in Tampa, Florida for over 400 days to see firsthand what it means to grow old in our society. This book and event is for anyone who has aging relatives or is wondering about his or her own old age. SCOPE is offering a free workshop for Potential or declared candidates for elected office, campaign staff or volunteers and elected officials from Sarasota County. This workshop will will help candidates prepare for the campaign road ahead by learning more about your community and the numbers that shape it. The class has an overview of SCOPE's data resources and features a panel discussion with local data providers.
