Meet Our 2015 Boundary Crosser!





Carolyn Johnson, civic leader, educator, businesswoman, fundraiser and philanthropist, has been a resident of Sarasota since 1950. With a background in Spanish, political science, business and classical music, Carolyn spent her working years teaching piano at Manatee College and USF as well as privately and as a business manager at her husband’s medical practice.

Carolyn has actively supported organizations that provide services to many sectors of the community with her time, talents and resources. Reflecting her interest in children, education, the arts, and the environment and cultural institutions of Florida, she currently serves as Board Chair of Planned Parenthood of Southwest and Central Florida, co-Chair of the Library Capital Campaign for Ringling College of Art and Design (where she is also an Honorary Life Trustee), and Chair of the Selby Foundation Administrative Committee. Her current memberships include Leadership Florida, Leadership Sarasota, Sarasota Women’s Alliance, Tiger Bay Sarasota and Ringling College Library Association.

SCOPE is pleased to recognize the extensive service that Carolyn Johnson has contributed to our community by awarding her with the title “2015 Boundary Crosser.”
