Across the country the delays and frustration of traffic congestion plague scores of cities and towns. On average, 15 cents per vehicle mile is lost between motorist delay, decreased economic productivity, increased traffic accidents, increased fuel consumption and increased pollution. Demand has soared over the past two or three decades; more vehicles are on the road as more people are driving and driving more often. The purpose of this study is to determine what steps our community can take to improve traffic flow and minimize traffic congestion. |
